Is anyone else not crazy about Halloween? I just don't find tombstones/skeletons/zombies that amusing anymore. It makes me shudder that when my oldest daughter was little I dressed her up as a baby angel for her first Halloween. What was I thinking? I can't even look at those photos anymore. And most the skeletons and skull decorations are not full size, so I keep thinking they are exactly child size.
Anyway, just having a kind of weirded out week so thought I'd throw my ramblings out there to see if anyone else is having similar thoughts.
Hope this week is gentle for you-

I am glad to hear I'm not the only one. I've never really been a huge fan of Halloween, but having my baby die at 38 weeks on Halloween four years ago made it become one of the most painful days of the year now. We have created new traditions to enjoy this time of year as much as we can, and no longer celebrate Halloween at all. I am always happy when someone speaks up and says they don't really like Halloween. It's always kind of awkward telling people we don't celebrate it and why. I wish it would just go away, but I do try to be good-natured about other people's enjoying it. :)
I am a big lover of Halloween. Mostly because I have few very happy memories of childhood and Halloween was always one of them. We always went out as a family and it was one of the few times no one fought or screamed.
I've never really thought about all of the skeleton and cemetary imagery. I do remember going to a haunted house years ago and it was supposed to be an insane asylum. There was a woman (in costume) sitting in a rocking chair, holding and rocking the head of a doll. If I saw that now, post Blaine, I'd probably have a breakdown.
I've always loved Halloween but I was surprised at how hard it was this year. I hated seeing the skeletons and tombstones. I also wished I had my baby to dress up yesterday.
I still like Halloween but I am definitely on guard. I hate seeing babies in angel costumes and was horrified to see onesies with skeleton prints. Honestly, though, now that Christmas stuff is out I'm still sensitive to some of the baby Jesus-with-a-halo imagery so I may just be overly sensitive.
